History of the holiday
After decades of political crises, monarchy, and transitional periods, Nepal became a republic in 2008. It took the country several years to create a new fundamental law that would establish a federal system and democratic principles.
On September 20, 2015, the President of Nepal Ram Baran Yadav signed the new constitution, which became a major milestone in the country’s history.
