World Kidney Day is an international event celebrated annually on the second Thursday of March to raise awareness of kidney disease and the importance of kidney health for overall human well-being. The event was first organized in 2006 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Society for the Study of Kidney (ISN).

Goals and Objectives of World Kidney Day
Raising awareness. Kidney Day is dedicated to drawing attention to the importance of kidney health, the risks of kidney disease and the need to prevent it. It also aims to inform about available treatment methods and the importance of early diagnosis.

Education and prevention. The organizers aim to teach the public about the main risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, as well as how a healthy lifestyle (balanced diet, physical activity, quitting smoking) helps prevent kidney disease.

Promoting regular medical examinations. Experts remind about the importance of regular checks of kidney function, especially for people who are at risk, for example, those who suffer from diabetes or hypertension.
