Armenia Independence Day is celebrated annually on September 21. It is one of the main national holidays of the country, symbolizing the restoration of independence of the Armenian people after decades as part of the Soviet Union.

History of the holiday
On September 21, 1991, a referendum was held in Armenia, in which the majority of citizens voted for leaving the USSR and creating an independent state. Already on September 23, 1991, the Supreme Council of Armenia officially proclaimed independence.
