Labor Day, also known as May Day, is celebrated on May 1st and is a holiday dedicated to workers and their rights. The day has become a symbol of the struggle for better working conditions, higher wages, and protection of workers' rights around the world.

Historical Context
Labor Day emerged in the late 19th century, when workers began to organize to fight for their rights. In particular, the movement for an eight-hour workday became the main slogan of workers in the United States and other countries. In 1886, mass strikes took place in Chicago, during which workers demanded shorter working hours. These events culminated in the Haymarket Riot, which became a symbol of the struggle for workers' rights. In 1889, at the International Socialist Congress in Paris, May 1st was proposed as a day of workers' solidarity.

Meaning of the holiday
Protection of workers' rights. Labor Day serves as a reminder of the need to protect workers' rights and improve working conditions.

Solidarity. This day unites workers all over the world, regardless of their profession or nationality, in the pursuit of a better future.

Historical memory. The holiday reminds us of the high price many people had to pay for the rights we have today.

How Labor Day is celebrated
Rallies and demonstrations. On this day, various actions, rallies and demonstrations are held, where workers express their demands and solidarity with each other.

Festive events. In many countries, holidays, concerts and festivals are held to celebrate the achievements of workers.

Educational campaigns. Workers' organizations and trade unions use this day to raise awareness of the problems workers face.

Days off. In most countries, May 1 is an official day off, which allows people to participate in celebrations and events.
