World Kidney Day is an international event held annually on the second Thursday of March to raise awareness about kidney disease and the importance of kidney health to overall human well-being. The holiday was first organized in 2006 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Association for the Study of Kidney Diseases (ISN).

Goals and objectives of World Kidney Day
Awareness raising. Kidney Day is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of kidney health, the risks of kidney disease, and the need to prevent it. The goal of the event is also to inform about available treatment methods and the importance of early diagnosis.

Education and prevention. Organizers strive to educate the public about major risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and how a healthy lifestyle (balanced diet, physical activity, quitting smoking) helps prevent kidney disease.

Promotion of regular medical check-ups. Experts point out the importance of regular kidney function tests, especially in people at risk, such as those with diabetes or hypertension.
