International Arabic Language Day is celebrated annually on December 18 to highlight the importance of Arabic, one of the official languages ​​of the United Nations (UN). This day was established by UNESCO in 2010, as it was on December 18, 1973, that Arabic received the status of an official and working language of the UN.

Arabic is one of the oldest and most widely used languages ​​in the world. It is spoken by more than 400 million people in 22 countries, as well as by numerous diasporas around the world. Arabic has deep cultural and historical significance and is a link for millions of people in the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere. It has many dialects, but classical Arabic remains the basis for inter-Arab communication, used in religious texts, literature, science and official documents.

Objectives and Activities
International Arabic Language Day aims to:

Raise awareness of the richness and diversity of Arabic culture and language;
Promoting the learning and preservation of the Arabic language among young people and people of other cultures;
Supporting linguistic diversity and multilingualism on a global scale.
