Geologist's Day is a professional holiday dedicated to all specialists working in the field of geology, who study the composition, structure, origin and history of the Earth, and also search for minerals and other natural resources. It has been celebrated annually on the first Sunday of April since 1966 in the USSR, and continues to be celebrated in some countries of the former USSR.

Interesting facts
Geology as a science began to develop in the 19th century, when a system for classifying rocks and minerals was created.

One of the most famous geologists is Alexander Fersman, a Russian scientist who made a significant contribution to the study of mineralogy and geochemistry.

Geologists often work in extreme conditions - from the Arctic to deserts, in the mountains and under water, studying various natural phenomena.
