History of the Holiday
The rebellions of 1837–1838 arose from the population's dissatisfaction with the regime of the British colonial administration. The main participants in these events were the patriots, supporters of democratic reforms. Official Recognition
National Patriots' Day was officially established by the Quebec government in 2003. It replaced the previously observed provincial holiday, Victoria Day (Queen's Day).
