The birthday of the mobile phone is celebrated on April 3 and is dedicated to the first call made using a portable mobile phone. This event took place in 1973, when engineer Martin Cooper from Motorola called his competitor Joel Engel from Bell Labs from the streets of Manhattan, using the world's first mobile phone - Motorola DynaTAC 8000X.

Martin Cooper made the first call from a mobile phone weighing about 1.1 kg and 25 cm long. This call became the starting point for the era of mobile communications. Commercial use of mobile phones began only 10 years later - in 1983, when the first mass-produced mobile phone Motorola DynaTAC was released. It cost about 4,000 US dollars and allowed talking for up to 30 minutes on a single battery charge.

Interesting facts
