World Hijab Day is celebrated on February 1st and is dedicated to supporting and understanding women who choose to wear the hijab (a traditional head covering for many Muslim women) as a symbol of their faith and identity.

The day was founded in 2013 by Muslim-American Nadia Hassan to create a global platform to raise awareness about the hijab and combat bias against women who wear it.

Celebration
World Hijab Day is celebrated in different countries and cultures, with a variety of events, such as:

Educational events. Schools and universities can organize lectures and discussions about the hijab, its meaning and historical context.

Social media. Women who wear the hijab and their supporters share photos and personal stories on social media with the hashtag #WorldHijabDay.
