Double Ten Festival is celebrated on the 10th day of the 10th month according to the lunar calendar. This festival has deep roots in Chinese culture and is associated with Taoist and Buddhist concepts of numerical symbolism.

Historical Significance
The number “10” in Eastern culture symbolizes completeness and perfection. The repetition of this number in the date — the 10th day of the 10th month — was perceived as a sign of special power and an auspicious time for concluding matters, finishing tasks, and purification.

Traditions and Customs
The Double Ten Festival is considered a time to:

* honor ancestors and make offerings at family altars;
* cleanse the home to remove accumulated negative energy;
* pray for the health and well-being of the family;
* give thanks for the harvest and the completion of agricultural cycles.

Modern Celebration
Today the Double Ten Festival is not one of the major public or widely celebrated holidays like Vietnamese New Year or the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, in some families the tradition of offerings at the ancestor altar is maintained, especially in rural areas. In cities, the festival is more often seen as a cultural reminder of ancient customs.
