Bacteriologist's Day in Colombia was established in recognition of the important contribution of bacteriologists to public health and the fight against infectious diseases. The date was chosen due to the historical development of microbiology and bacteriology in the country.
Colombia, like many Latin American countries, has faced numerous health challenges, such as infectious disease epidemics. Thanks to the work of bacteriologists, it has become possible to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of many diseases.
