Finnish Literature Day is celebrated annually on October 10.

History and significance
This day is dedicated to the memory of Finnish writer Aleksis Kivi (real name — Alexis Stenvall), who was born on October 10, 1834. Kivi is considered the founder of modern Finnish literature. His most famous work is the novel «Seitsemän veljestä» («Seven Brothers»), published in 1870, which became the first full-length novel in the Finnish language. This work had a significant impact on the development of Finnish literature and culture.
