International Day of the Deaf is an annual event observed on the last Sunday in September. The day was established by the World Federation of the Deaf in 1958 to draw attention to the rights of deaf people, their inclusion in society and the importance of equal opportunities.

Goals and Objectives
The main goals of International Day of the Deaf are:

Raising awareness of the problems faced by deaf people, such as barriers to access to education, information and employment.
Protection of the rights of deaf people: promoting the rights of deaf people to use sign language and creating conditions for their participation in society.
Informing society about the importance of sign language, which is an important means of communication for many deaf people.
Drawing attention to inclusive education and the need to adapt educational institutions for the deaf.

Problems faced by deaf people
Discrimination. Many deaf people face barriers to accessing services, education, information, and employment due to a lack of inclusive programming.
Lack of information. Deaf people may have difficulty accessing important information, especially in emergency and public safety situations, due to a lack of sign language interpreters or captioning.
Education. Deaf children may not receive a quality education due to a lack of sign language teachers or inadequate provision of educational materials.

Events and Activities
During International Day of the Deaf, various activities are held to:

Support and promote sign language through public speaking, lectures, and training workshops.
Discuss accessibility issues – create and promote programs to provide inclusive services for the deaf.
Organize cultural events: screenings of sign language films, theater productions, and art exhibitions featuring deaf people.
Fundraising campaigns to support educational and social programs for the deaf.
