Commonwealth Day, or Commonwealth of Nations Day, is observed annually on the second Monday in March and is a holiday celebrating the Commonwealth of Nations, a voluntary association of 54 independent states, most of which were formerly part of the British Empire. The day provides an opportunity to celebrate the values and achievements of the Commonwealth and to strengthen the ties between its member states.Events
