The International Day of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education is observed annually on 5 March. This day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly to raise public awareness of the importance of disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons.

Objectives and Significance of the Day
Raising awareness. The International Day of Education serves as a platform to inform people about the consequences of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, as well as the need to disarm and prevent their proliferation.

How the International Day of Education is Celebrated
