International Burger Day is celebrated annually on May 28. This holiday is dedicated to one of the most popular dishes in the world — the burger, a symbol of fast food and culinary creativity.

History of the holiday
The origin of the burger remains a subject of debate. It is believed that the name "hamburger" comes from the German city of Hamburg, where in the 18th century the "Hamburg steak" — a dish made of minced meat — was popular. According to one version, in 1900, a Danish immigrant named Louis Lassen, owner of a lunch spot in New Haven, Connecticut (USA), first served a minced beef patty between two pieces of bread, which became the prototype of the modern burger. Another version attributes the invention to the Menches brothers, who in 1885 at a fair in Hamburg, New York, replaced pork with beef in their sandwiches and called the new dish a hamburger.

Celebration traditions
On International Burger Day, various events and promotions take place around the world:

* Restaurants and cafes offer special deals and discounts on burgers
* Competitions are held to find the best burger among chefs and enthusiasts
* Street food festivals are organized with food trucks and culinary startups
* Food lovers experiment with new homemade burger recipes, including vegetarian and vegan versions

This day is a great opportunity for gourmets and anyone who enjoys delicious food to come together and enjoy the diversity of burgers.
