International Carrot Day is celebrated annually on April 4. This unusual holiday is dedicated to one of the most popular and versatile vegetables in the world – carrots. It was created to highlight their nutritional properties, variety of uses and cultural significance.

Interesting facts about carrots
Carrot color. Although orange carrots are the most famous, there are many other varieties, including purple, yellow, white and red.

History of orange carrots. They are believed to have been bred in the Netherlands in the 17th century as a symbol of respect for the royal House of Orange.

Carrots and vision. The common claim that carrots improve vision has a scientific basis, but the effect is only seen in cases of vitamin A deficiency.
