National health day
November 12, Wednesday
History and significance of the holiday
The holiday was established in memory of the end of a severe malaria epidemic that affected Indonesia in the mid-20th century. In the 1960s, the government launched a large-scale national campaign to combat malaria, and the results were successful. In honor of the victory over the disease, National Health Day was officially proclaimed on November 12, 1964.
This holiday symbolizes the importance of joint efforts by the government, medical workers, and citizens to maintain the health of the nation.
