World Hearing Day is celebrated on 3 March to raise awareness of hearing problems and the importance of hearing health. The day was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2007 and has since become an important event for raising public awareness of issues related to hearing loss, prevention and treatment.

Objectives of World Hearing Day
Raising awareness. World Hearing Day serves as a platform for informing the public about the importance of hearing health, methods of its preservation and prevention of hearing diseases.

Preventing hearing loss. The holiday focuses on the importance of preventive measures to reduce the risks of hearing loss, such as protecting your hearing in a noisy environment and regular hearing tests.

Supporting people with hearing loss. The day also aims to support people with hearing loss, draw attention to their needs and promote better access to hearing health services.

Stimulating research and investment. World Hearing Day aims to highlight the need for research and investment in hearing technology and health services.

How is World Hearing Day celebrated
Educational events: Healthcare facilities, schools and community organisations hold lectures, workshops and training sessions on hearing health, prevention methods and possible solutions for people with hearing loss.

Hearing health campaigns: Various organisations, including WHO and national health authorities, launch campaigns to raise awareness of hearing problems. This may include promotional materials, videos and social media posts.

Free hearing tests: As part of the holiday, many health facilities and organisations offer free hearing tests to the public, which helps to identify problems early and provide advice.

Hearing events: Events are held to support people with hearing loss, including exhibitions, demonstrations of hearing technology and sign language training programmes.
