Mohun Bagan Day
July 29, Monday
On 10 July 1911, Mohun Bagan had begun their third IFA Shield campaign. The tournament continued for the next 19 days, with Mohun Bagan eventually becoming the champions by defeating the East Yorkshire Regiment team. Thus, for the first time, a native club defeated the British and the British-Indian teams in a football tournament.Since 2001, 29 July is celebrated as 'Mohun Bagan Day' in honor of the club's victory over East Yorkshire Regiment in the 1911 IFA Shield Final.
