Republic Day in India is celebrated on January 26 and is one of the most significant national holidays of the country. This day symbolizes the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950, which marked the transition of India to a republican form of government.History
India became an independent country on August 15, 1947, but at that time it did not have its own Constitution. In 1948, work began on the draft of a new Constitution under the chairmanship of B. R. Ambedkar, who became the main architect of the document.
On November 26, 1949, the Constitution was adopted and came into force on January 26, 1950. On this day, India became a fully sovereign and republican country.
Celebration
Republic Day is celebrated with great pomp and a variety of events:
Parade in New Delhi. The main celebrations take place in the capital, where large-scale parades are held on Rajpath Street. The parade involves the Indian Armed Forces, various cultural groups, state delegations and school children.
Performances and displays of achievements. The parades include displays of military hardware, traditional costumes and dances, and an exhibition of the cultural heritage of various regions of India.
