Ramadan
March 10 - April 9, Sunday – Tuesday
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During Ramadan, from dawn to sunset, practicing Muslims fast, refraining from eating, drinking, smoking, and sinful behaviors. The fast is broken each day with the Iftar meal at sunset, typically beginning with dates and water. Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, is eaten before the fast begins at sunrise. Ramadan ends with Eid al-Fitr, a festival marking the conclusion of fasting. Ramadan is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam, emphasizing spiritual growth, self-discipline, and empathy for the less fortunate.
