World Civil Defence Day
March 1, Friday
World Civil Defence Day is celebrated annually on 1 March and aims to raise awareness of the importance of civil defence and protection of the population in emergency situations such as natural disasters, man-made accidents, terrorist attacks and wars. This day is organized under the auspices of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), whose goal is to develop and coordinate measures to protect the population around the world.History and Origin

ICDO was created in 1931 as an international structure promoting the protection of the population during emergency situations. The main goal of establishing this day was to draw attention to the importance of civil defence and to improve the level of training of people and structures to respond to crisis situations.
