World Aquatic Day is observed on 3 April and is dedicated to the protection and conservation of animals living in the aquatic environment. The day was established in 2020 by the Aquatic Animal Law Initiative and aims to draw attention to the importance of protecting aquatic fauna, as well as the challenges facing aquatic ecosystems.

Main Objectives of World Aquatic Day
Awareness. Raise awareness of the challenges facing aquatic ecosystems and the importance of preserving aquatic fauna.

Animal rights. Discuss legal and ethical issues related to the protection of aquatic animals, especially those under human exploitation, such as fish farms and aquariums.

Education. Raise awareness of the role of aquatic animals in ecosystems, their biology and ecological importance.

Action. Call for action to protect aquatic environments, including reducing plastic use, supporting sustainable fisheries and protecting natural water bodies.
