Sardinia Day is celebrated annually on April 28. This holiday is an important cultural and historical event for the inhabitants of the island of Sardinia (Italy). It is dedicated to the memory of the events of 1794, when the Sardinians rebelled against the ruling Savoy dynasty.

Historical context
Sardinia Day recalls the struggle of the Sardinians for freedom and self-government, which began with the events known as the "Revolt of the Fifty Days". At the end of the 18th century, Sardinia was under the rule of the Kingdom of Savoy. The local population was dissatisfied with political and economic restrictions, as well as the dominance of foreigners in the governance of the island.

On April 28, 1794, the Sardinians expelled the representatives of the Savoy administration from their island, including Viceroy Vincenzo Ballera. This event became a symbol of resistance and the desire of the islanders to preserve their cultural identity and autonomy.
