National Peace Day is observed in Japan every year on March 1. This day was established to commemorate the importance of peace, opposition to war, and the desire to maintain stability and security in Japan and the world. It symbolizes the efforts of the Japanese people to prevent conflicts and promote peaceful solutions.

Historical Context
Having suffered two atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, Japan has deep wounds associated with war. After World War II, the country adopted a constitution that clearly states the desire for peace and the rejection of war as a means of resolving international disputes (Article 9). This historical context became the basis for the establishment of National Peace Day.
