History of the holiday
Originally, October 10 in Kenya was observed as Moi Day in honor of former President Daniel arap Moi. After the adoption of the new Constitution in 2010, this day was removed from the list of national holidays. In 2017, the Supreme Court reinstated it as an official holiday. In 2019, the holiday was renamed Huduma Day, emphasizing community service and volunteerism.
