Global Recycling Day
March 18, Tuesday

History of the celebration
Global Recycling Day was established in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation. It was created to emphasize the need for a more active approach to recycling materials such as plastic, paper, metal, and glass, and to spread information about ways to reduce waste at all levels of society.
Recycling waste helps not only preserve natural resources but also reduce environmental pollution, lower the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and reduce carbon footprints, which is crucial in the fight against global climate change.
How can you celebrate this day?
Global Recycling Day is a day when everyone can contribute to improving the environment. Here are a few ways to celebrate this day:
1. Learn more about recycling: Find out which materials can be recycled in your region and how to properly sort waste.
2. Sort your waste: If you don’t yet have the habit of sorting waste, this is a great moment to start.
3. Donate unused items: Before throwing something away, consider whether it can be recycled or reused.
4. Attend an event: In some countries and cities, events such as lectures, exhibitions, and environmental actions focused on recycling and sustainable development are organized on this day.
5. Spread information: Share on social media the importance of recycling and sustainable consumption.
Benefits of the celebration
Global Recycling Day brings several important benefits:
- Increased awareness: People start thinking more about waste-related issues and their recycling.
- Reduced pollution: Recycling helps reduce environmental and air pollution.
- Resource savings: Recycling allows for the reuse of materials, contributing to the conservation of natural resources.
- Encouragement of innovation: This day helps stimulate research and development in recycling and eco-friendly technologies.
Global Recycling Day reminds us that each of us can play a role in creating a sustainable future by taking steps towards more responsible recycling and waste reduction.
