Goals and objectives of International Mountain Day
Drawing attention to the problems of mountain regions. Mountains are important sources of fresh water, energy, biological diversity, but they face serious threats due to climate change, environmental degradation, soil erosion and the extinction of unique species.

Recognizing the importance of mountain ecosystems. Mountain areas support millions of people, providing them with food, forest resources, medicinal plants and other materials necessary for life. Mountains also play an important role in climate regulation.

Supporting the development of mountain communities. Despite their natural resources, many mountain communities live in poverty and inequality. This day aims to support sustainable development and help mountain regions overcome social and economic difficulties.

Promoting environmental sustainability. Preserving mountain ecosystems and their resources requires efforts to reduce human impact, protect nature, reduce deforestation and develop sustainable land use practices.
