International Cat Rescue Day is observed annually on August 8th and is a holiday dedicated to the protection and welfare of domestic and wild cats. The day was established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to raise awareness of the problems cats face and to promote responsible cat ownership.
