The Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan is a national holiday celebrated in Kazakhstan on May 1. It is dedicated to strengthening interethnic harmony and unity of the people of Kazakhstan, respect and reverence for the multinational culture of the country. The holiday was established in 1996 and has become an important element of state policy in the field of tolerance, inclusiveness and social harmony.

Celebrations
On this day, various cultural and festive events are held in Kazakhstan. In large cities, including the capital Nur-Sultan (former Astana) and Almaty, concerts, festivals, fairs, exhibitions and other events are held that demonstrate the diversity of the culture and traditions of the people.

An important element of the holiday is mass folk festivities, where people of different nationalities share their culture, traditions and cuisine. In some regions, folk games, theatrical performances, and demonstrations of folk crafts are held.

Also on this day, various meetings and ceremonial events are organized, where issues of interethnic interaction and social harmony are raised. Thematic classes are held in schools and educational institutions, dedicated to issues of tolerance, respect and peace between peoples.
