World Habitat Day is an international holiday established by the United Nations (UN) and celebrated annually on the first Monday of October. History
World Habitat Day was established by the UN General Assembly in 1985 and was first celebrated in 1986. The main idea was to recognize that urbanization, rapid urban sprawl and demographic growth lead to serious challenges in providing everyone with safe and decent shelter.

Celebration
Conferences and forums. The UN and its partners hold international conferences, seminars and discussion panels devoted to urbanization, sustainable development, housing affordability and social justice.
Actions and initiatives. local and global campaigns are held to improve living conditions in cities. For example, various charitable foundations and organizations can implement programs to build affordable housing for the poor.
