Edible Book Day is an unusual international holiday celebrated annually on April 1st. On this day, literature and culinary enthusiasts around the world create edible works of art inspired by books and share them in a creative and fun atmosphere.

History of the holiday
Edible Book Day was founded in 2000 by two artists: Judith A. Hoffberg and Beatrice Coron. They decided to combine their two passions - books and food - and choose the symbolic date of April 1st, which is also known as April Fools' Day, adding an element of humor to the holiday.

How it is celebrated
Creating edible books. Participants make dishes that either look like books or illustrate famous literary works. For example, you can bake a cake in the shape of an open book or make a dessert depicting the plot of a famous novel.

Tastings. After the presentation, everyone gathered can taste the dishes they have created.

Competitions and exhibitions. The best "edible books" are often awarded prizes, and in some places entire exhibitions are organized.

Reading aloud and discussions. Some events include reading excerpts from books that inspired the creation of culinary masterpieces.
