Ceremonies and processions. In Latvia, especially in Riga, events and memorial processions are held to commemorate the legionnaires. In some cases, veterans and their descendants attend these events.
Public debates. This day is often the subject of public and media discussions on the moral and historical side of Latvians' participation in the Nazi army, as well as the consequences for the Latvian people in the context of World War II.
Honors at military cemeteries. Memorial events may take place at Latvian military cemeteries where soldiers who died as part of the Latvian Legion are buried.
