Tatiana's Day, also known as Russian Students' Day, is celebrated annually on January 25. This holiday has a double meaning: it is dedicated to Saint Tatiana of Rome and is also a symbol of student life in Russia.

History of Tatiana's Day
Religious origin. The holiday is associated with the memory of Saint Tatiana of Rome, who lived in the 3rd century and died a martyr's death for her faith in Christianity during the persecution of Christians. In the Orthodox Church, her feast day is celebrated on January 25 (January 12, old style). Saint Tatiana is considered the patroness of students.

Foundation of Moscow University. In 1755, on January 25, the day of Saint Tatiana's feast day, Empress Elizabeth Petrovna signed a decree on the establishment of Moscow University, at the suggestion of the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov and Count Ivan Shuvalov. Since then, Tatyana's Day has come to be perceived as a student holiday.
