International HPV Awareness Day is celebrated on March 4 and aims to raise awareness about the human papillomavirus (HPV), its consequences and methods of prevention. This day was established by the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS) to disseminate information about HPV in order to reduce the incidence of the disease and help people make informed choices about their health.

How is International HPV Awareness Day celebrated
Information campaigns. Educational events dedicated to HPV, publications and videos aimed at disseminating accurate information about the infection are organized in different countries.

Screening and vaccination. In some countries, this day offers promotions allowing people to get tested for HPV or get vaccinated for free or at a reduced cost.

Lectures and seminars. Lectures and seminars are held in medical institutions, schools and universities, where the causes and consequences of HPV infection, as well as preventive measures, are explained.

Social networks and the Internet. On this day, hashtags such as #HPVAwarenessDay are actively distributed to reach a wider audience and engage more people in the discussion of this topic.

Support from government and public organizations. In some countries, the government supports HPV prevention programs by improving access to vaccination and diagnostics, as well as informing the population about HPV and protection options.
