World Spay Day is an international campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering pets and stray animals. It is observed annually on the last Tuesday of February and is part of an initiative led by Humane Society International and other animal welfare organizations.

History of the Observance
The initiative was launched in 1995 by the Doris Day Animal League in the United States. Since then, it has expanded to many countries, bringing together veterinarians, volunteers, and activists who organize educational campaigns and offer free or low-cost spay and neuter services.
