World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed annually on 30 July. The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2013 to raise awareness of the problem of human trafficking and mobilize efforts to eliminate it. Human trafficking is one of the most serious human rights violations, affecting millions of people around the world.

Main objectives of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
To raise awareness of the scale of human trafficking and its consequences for victims.
To protect the rights of victims and provide them with the necessary assistance and support.
To draw attention to the problems of law enforcement and the need for increased international cooperation in the fight against criminal gangs.
To promote precautionary measures and prevent people from becoming victims of trafficking.

The scale of the problem:
According to the UN, millions of people worldwide become victims of human trafficking every year.
The majority of victims are women and children who are exploited for sexual services or forced labour.
Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar business run by organized criminal networks.

Combat measures
Legislative initiatives. Many countries are developing and adopting laws to combat human trafficking, increasing penalties for such crimes and providing protection to victims.
International cooperation. Combating human trafficking requires coordination between countries to prosecute criminals and provide assistance to victims.
Educational campaigns. Informing the public about recruitment methods, risks and ways of protection is an important element.

Each year, the UN selects a specific topic to highlight the most pressing aspects of the problem of human trafficking. In recent years, special attention has been paid to issues of support for victims, their rehabilitation and integration into society, as well as to the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat organized criminal networks.
