St. Paul's Shipwreck Day is celebrated on 10 February, especially in Malta, where it is one of the most important religious holidays. It commemorates the event described in the Bible in the Acts of the Apostles, when the Apostle Paul, on his way to Rome for trial, was shipwrecked on the shores of Malta in 60 CE. This event was important for the Christianization of Malta, as according to tradition, Paul preached to the locals and healed many, thus beginning the spread of Christianity on the island.
