World Wildlife Day is celebrated on 3 March and aims to draw attention to the importance of protecting wildlife and preserving the planet’s ecosystems. The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2013 to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which was signed on 3 March 1973.

Combating poaching and illegal trade. The holiday aims to draw attention to the problems of poaching and illegal wildlife trade, which cause serious damage to ecosystems and threaten the existence of many species.

Promoting sustainable development. World Wildlife Day also emphasizes the importance of sustainable use of natural resources and the need for harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
