Who is Benito Juarez?
Benito Pablo Juarez García (1806-1872) was the first president of Mexico of indigenous descent from the Zapotec people. His reign was an era of profound social and political transformations known as the Reformation. Juarez's major achievements include:
Approval of the Constitution of 1857, which enshrined the principles of liberty, equality, and a secular state.
