Flag Day
February 24, Monday

Flag Symbolism
The Mexican flag consists of three vertical stripes: green, white and red. In the center is the coat of arms, depicting an eagle sitting on a cactus and holding a snake in its beak and claws. Each of the stripes has its own meaning:
Green symbolizes hope.
White means purity and unity.
Red represents the blood shed for Mexico's independence.
Celebration
Flag Day is celebrated with various events:
Flag Raising Ceremonies. In major cities and on government buildings, solemn flag raising ceremonies are held, during which anthems are played and prayers for the country are held.
Parades and cultural events. On this day, parades are held in which schoolchildren, military personnel, and various cultural groups participate. These events include dance, music, and performances that reflect Mexican traditions.
Educational programs. Schools and educational institutions conduct special lessons about the meaning of the flag, its history, and symbolism. This helps the younger generation understand and respect their culture.
