Yang di-Pertuan Besar's Birthday is a national holiday in Malaysia celebrated in honour of the country's reigning monarch. The Yang di-Pertuan Besar is the supreme leader of the state of Negeri Sembilan, one of the 13 states of Malaysia. Unlike other Malay monarchies where the throne is inherited in a direct line, in Negeri Sembilan the choice of ruler is made with the participation of local chieftains. This choice is traditionally based on meetings of senior representatives of the royal families.

Official Ceremonies. On Yang di-Pertuan Besar's Birthday, various official events are held, including an award ceremony where state awards and decorations are presented to outstanding citizens.
Parades and Cultural Events. Festive parades, public celebrations, musical and cultural programmes are held throughout the state.
Religious Ceremonies. On this day, prayers and religious ceremonies are also held for the health and well-being of the ruler.
