In the Netherlands, National Mill Day is held annually on the second Saturday in May. The day is dedicated to one of the country's most famous landmarks and symbols - the mills, which are not only an important part of the national heritage, but also play a significant role in the history and culture of the Netherlands.

National Mill Day is organized to raise awareness of the preservation of mills, to highlight their cultural significance and to remind people of the importance of their preservation. During this celebration, mill owners and volunteers open their doors to the public, offering tours, demonstrations and various events.

How it's celebrated
Guidance. Many mills that are usually closed to visitors are made accessible. Guests can see the inner workings of the mills, learn how they work and hear stories about their use.

Workshops and presentations. Events are organized dedicated to the history of the mills, their influence on the development of the Netherlands, as well as modern ways of using them.

Family fun. Some places organize picnics, quests and children's programs to involve the younger generation in learning about the national heritage.
