Tragic History and Legacy
On February 11, 1986, at the height of the resistance to the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, Evelio Javier was assassinated in San Jose City, Antique Province. His assassination sparked widespread public protest, becoming one of the catalysts for the People's Revolution that led to the overthrow of the Marcos regime.

How Governor Evelio Javier Day is Celebrated
Commemorative Ceremonies: Events are held to remember his contributions to the democratic movement. Lectures and talks are held in schools and government offices about his life and the significance of his work.
