Al-Quds Day (or Jerusalem Day) is an annual day observed on the last Friday of Ramadan. It was established in 1979 and aims to support the Palestinians in their quest for independence and human rights, as well as to highlight issues related to Jerusalem.

History
Al-Quds Day was declared by Iran after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini declared the day a day to fight Zionism and support the Palestinian people. The name "Al-Quds" translates as "Holy City" and refers to Jerusalem, which is an important religious and historical center for Muslims, Jews and Christians.

Celebration
Rallies and demonstrations. Rallies, demonstrations and actions in support of the Palestinian people are held on this day. People gather in the streets, raising Palestinian flags and chanting slogans supporting the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

Prayers and religious events. Mosques and Islamic centers hold special prayers and lectures on the situation in Jerusalem and Palestine.

Educational events. Seminars, conferences and other events are organized to raise awareness of the Palestinian issue and the importance of Jerusalem.
