The National Holiday of May 3 in Poland is a national day celebrated on May 3 and is an important historical event for Poland. It is dedicated to the adoption of the Constitution of May 3, 1791, which was the first in Europe and the second in the world after the American Constitution.

Historical context
The Constitution of May 3 was the result of a political and social reform in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, aimed at strengthening the state and protecting it from external interference. It was the first document that systematized the foundations of the legal and governmental structure of Poland, and it introduced important reforms in the field of human rights, including strengthening the rights of citizens, limiting the power of the gentry and strengthening the monarchy.

The Constitution was revolutionary for its time. However, despite the reforms, Poland soon found itself divided between three neighboring states - the Russian Empire, Prussia and Austria, which destroyed Poland's independence in the late 18th century.
