Air Defense Forces (ADF) Aviation Day is celebrated annually on January 22 in Russia. This professional holiday is dedicated to the military personnel who ensure the protection of the country's airspace, as well as the technical and command staff involved in the operation and maintenance of air defense aviation units.

Air Defense Aviation Tasks and Functions
The main task of the ADF aviation is to protect Russia's airspace from any threats, including aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and ballistic missiles. The functions of the ADF aviation include:

Interception and destruction of air targets. ADF aviation units must quickly respond to threats by intercepting and destroying enemy objects penetrating the airspace.

Airspace patrol. Regular flights to monitor the air situation and prevent unauthorized intrusions.

Escort of strategic facilities. AD aviation can also escort important strategic facilities, both military and civilian.

Ceremonial events. On this day, award ceremonies are held for distinguished servicemen, medals are presented, and letters of gratitude are given for professional merits.
