Russian Science Day, celebrated annually on February 8, is a holiday dedicated to the achievements of Russian scientists, the development of science and the popularization of scientific knowledge. It was established in 1999 by decree of the President of the Russian Federation in honor of the 275th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The date symbolizes the importance of science for Russian society and its contribution to global scientific progress.

Events on Russian Science Day
Conferences and symposia. Leading institutes, universities and scientific organizations hold meetings where they discuss current scientific issues, new discoveries and prospects.

Presentations of scientific achievements. Exhibitions are organized where the latest developments and technologies created by Russian scientists are demonstrated.

Educational lectures and excursions. Lectures, seminars and master classes aimed at involving young people in scientific projects and research are held in schools, universities and museums.

Awarding of scientists. On this day, award ceremonies are held to award outstanding Russian researchers for their contribution to the development of science.
